Shopping for super hot Ghost pepper plants? Bhut Jolokia Pepper Plant - rough/wrinkled skin ( Ghost Pepper ) is also know as Bih jolokia, Nagahari, Raja Mircha, Raja chilli or Borbih jolokia. A hybrid chile from India. In 2007, Guinness World Records certified the Ghost pepper as the world's hottest chili pepper. When ripe, the Bhut Jolokia pepper has a red or orange color and measures 2.5 in. to 3.5 in. long and about 1 in. wide. The word Bhut, given from the Bhutias people, means “ghost” and was probably given the name ghost pepper because of the way the heat sneaks up on the one who eats it. Recent tests indicating a heat level at 1,041,427 Scoville Heat Units. The capsaicin intensity changes significantly from fresh to dried. The fresh packs the highest pungency with 1 million Scoville units, whereas the powdered can fall to roughly around 750,000 to 900,000 Scoville units.

Growing The Extremely Hot Bhut Jolokia / Ghost Pepper Plant.

The Ghost pepper plant can be grown both in a container or in the ground. Many growers of this extremely super-hot pepper like best growing it in a container of least 5 gallons or more. One of the advantages to growing in a container is that the Ghost pepper plant grows slow and takes quite some time to produce peppers. So, with this slow producing pepper plant if you live in a area with a short growing season the plants can be more easily protected from frost or cold weather. Even though the Ghost pepper is slow to produce when it does it is a fairly heavy producer. The Bhut Jolokia plant will produce between 20 to 30 peppers when fully grown and sometime up to 45 or more.

Ghost Chiles grow best in full sun and with day temperatures at least 70 F and night temperatures of no lower than 50 F. Always remember when shopping and buying online pepper plants like the Ghost pepper from Piedmont Farm Garden to open box upon arrival, unwrap plants and accumulate plant for a few days. In some cases, it may be a long journey form South Carolina in a dark box so acclimating your Reaper plants will help them get a healthy start. Ghost pepper plants grow best in soils with a pH around 6.5.

Pepper plants grow best in a soil that is heavy in organic matter.
If you are fortunate enough to live within driving distance of Piedmont Farm and Garden, located in Spartanburg South Carolina we sell bulk mushroom compost direct from Pennsylvania’s Amish country. This compost is made up of a rich, dark, and moist mixture of wheat straw, peat moss, cottonseed meal, cottonseed hulls, corncobs, cocoa bean shells, gypsum, lime, chicken litter and horse stable bedding. If similar product is not available, most reputable garden centers (not box stores) should carry peat moss, cow/poultry manure, vermiculite, perlite, mushroom compost, or pine bark mulch.

5 of 5 Ghost pepper plants September 29, 2021
Reviewer: Carol C
I just received my first order from you. It was for three Ghost pepper
plants. I was concerned because you said they were shipped on May 18
priority mail, but I did not receive them until May 22. Five days packed
and in shipment could not be good for the plants. However, I was
extremely impressed when I opened the box. I have ordered many plants by
mail over the years. The quality of these far exceeded any mail order
plant I have ever received. I hope the plants grow and produce as good
as the condition in which they arrived. I've already started bragging
about you to my gardening friends. Thank you
