Lutz has roots that are about 6" in diameter and can get much bigger without that woody taste. Whether the beets are young or old, small or large, they remain tender all summer and fall. As its alternate name “Long Seasons” suggests, this beet variety can remain growing in the garden from early spring right through the fall months.
