Lutz Beet : ( 80 Days ) Heirloom Also known by many as "winterkeeper" beets. Plant produces good yields of very large sweet dark red beets. Lutz has roots that are about 6" in diameter and can get much bigger without that woody taste. Whether the beets are young or old, small or large, they remain tender all summer and fall. As its alternate name “Long Seasons” suggests, this beet variety can remain growing in the garden from early spring right through the fall months. Beet leaves make an excellent substitute for spinach, Swiss Chard, or other leafy green vegetables. So for a large-sized, low maintenance Lutz beet is ideal for the backyard vegetable grower.
