Description   San Marzano Tomato Plant : This heirloom from Italy is considered to be the best sauce tomato in the world. It is believed that the first seeds of this variety was a gift from the Kingdom of Peru to the Kingdom of Naples, arriving in Campania, Italy around 1770. Compact and prolicic producer of bright-red, slim, 2-3 inch, plum-type, fruit over a long season. A paste tomato with pointy end, heavy walls and little juice, so it's great for tomato sauce. Crack resistant. Better tasting than Roma described as sweeter and less acidic and also is meatier, has less seeds and grows longer and thinner than the Roma.
