Description

Basil Spicy Globe : "Ocimum basilicum "  Also called Greek Basil, it is a popular variety in Europe because of its size, flavor, and tender stems. Spicy Globe basil grows in a mound shape that makes it perfect for edging in small gardens or in containers and window boxes. Spicy Globe is named for its rounded shape; it grows as wide as it does tall.

Culinary Uses : Basil can be dried or used fresh.  It is best used fresh, as drying it will lose its perfume and quite a bit of flavour. A favorite with French cooks, who have traditionally used its leaves in soups and salads. Use the leaves of this basil to flavor all the foods that you would flavor with the larger Sweet Basil. Because the leaves are tiny, you won’t need to slice or dice if the recipe calls for chopping. The stems stay tender, too, so it is easy to use pinches compared to most basils whose stems can get woody fast. The hearty flavor makes it a good candidate for spicier Thai and Italian dishes, in sparing amounts.

Medicinal Uses :  Traditionally used for many reasons, basil is well known for its medicinal purpose. Basil possesses the properties of anti-oxidant agents thus helps in flushing our all toxic material from the body. It has anti bacterial properties which kill the bacteria that lead to many infections. Just chewing few basil leaves early morning will kill the bacteria and flush them out your body. Basil is the best remedy on morning cold and cough. You may consume few basil leaves with two teaspoon of honey to reduce the intensity of cough. Very effective in the treatment of asthma and diabetes. Helps in alleviating your stress level. It relaxes the stressed brain cells, thus revitalizes your health. It is best remedy to cure acne and pimples. Simple rub basil leaves on the affected skin and wash it off with warm water.

Other Uses : Effective bug repellant. As with all basils, you can also use this basil in the garden as a natural insecticide to repel aphids, mites, and tomato hornworms.
