    Fish Pepper Plant : Heirloom African variety, Pre-1870's used to season fish and shellfish in the African-American communities around Baltimore and Philadelphia and are traditionally still used in oyster and fish houses around the Chesapeake Bay region in the state of Maryland. Fruits are green and white or cream colored, changing to shades of red, orange, rust, and brown, with striped accents of green, yellow, and cream mixed in when fully mature. This 3" peppers flavor is moderately hot. The ornamental pepper plant grows to about 18" to 24" tall.

    Hinkelhatz Pepper Plant : Heirloom Rare Pennsylvania Dutch heirloom dating before 1880, with pods that are covered with tiny bumps and wrinkles and measure 1 1/4 inches in length tapering to a blunt point. Peppers mature to red and are especially good for making pepper vinegars. Variety is one of the oldest preserved by this group of Mennonites, cultivated for well over 150 years. Traditionally used exclusively for pickling, the Pennsylvania Dutch cooked and pureed it to make a pepper vinegar similar to Tabasco sauce. This Hinkelhatz sauce was used on sauerkraut and other Pennsylvania Dutch dishes. Named for their pendant fruits the size and shape of chicken's hearts - which is the translation of hinkelhatz. Plants and seeds are still quite rare.

    Red Rocoto Pepper Plant : Peruvian heirloom also known as Tree Pepper, fruits are very fragrant when they ripen. Fruit is about 1" round green fruits that ripen to red and have black seeds. Can survive light frosts but not hard freezes. This unusual pepper wards off insects, so it is useful to grow on your deck or porch where you can sit and admire it.

    Squash Jamaican Red Pepper Plant : Also called Jamacian red Scotch Bonnets. A heirloom pepper that is a Thin-skinned hot pepper with a spicy taste with a hint of citrus about the same heat as a habanero. Very compact, but highly productive. Fruit is red and people call these squash peppers because the resemble a scallop squash. Thin skinned means they dry really well. Many people make a Tabasco sauce out of them.

    Klinger's Florida Grove Pepper Plant : This is the largest of the bird type peppers. this type was spread by wild birds and used to grow wild in the orange groves in Florida. Roots are frost-resistant, down to the 20s, and will regrow from the roots when weather warms. Plant can grow to 6 ft. across and 3 to 4 feet tall. The fruit is shaped and is extremely hot like a Ghost-pepper, it has very thin skin and the fruit is 2 - 3 inches across.
