Our plants are grown in a 3 ½ inch pot and are carefully packaged with a small poly bag secured around the pot to contain the soil and then each pot has a corrugated sleeve wrapped around pot and plant and secured with corner locks then slid down in a heavy duty corrugated container to protect your shipment

All plants have been inspected and certified by Clemson University Department of Plant Industry to be shipped anywhere in the continental United States. As earlier stated, we are not certified organic, but grow naturally including seed starting media, potting media which includes a natural fertilizer charge and wetting agent in an addition to any insect and disease control products being natural.

This plant produces very large, indeterminate, regular-leaf, prolific tomato plants that yield huge sets of 1-2 pound, slightly flattened, irregular-shaped, dark-pink beefsteak tomatoes with terrific bold, tomato flavors. Plenty of sweetness with complementary acid flavors. Several growers of tomatoes for farmer's markets swear by the taste quality and visual appeal of the Mexico heirloom tomato. A perfect tomato for slicing fresh and thick for sandwiches and sliced up in salads. Once you select this variety it will be in your garden every year. Mortgage Lifter Tomato Plant : tomato plants are a heirloom - beefsteak variety. Developed by M.C. Byles in the 1930’s, this tomato remains very much in demand in the Mid-Atlantic states. Mr. Byles, affectionately known as "Radiator Charlie" earned his nickname from the radiator repair business he opened at the foot of a steep hill on which trucks would often overheat. Radiator Charlie, who had no formal education or plant breeding experience, created this legendary tomato by cross-breeding four of the largest tomatoes he was able to find and developed a stable variety after six years of pollination and selection. He then sold his tomato plants for one dollar each (in the 1940’s) and paid off the six thousand dollar mortgage on his house in six years. It is said that each spring, gardeners drove as far as 200 miles to buy Charlie’s seedling tomatoes. The large, slightly flattened, pink-red fruits that range from 1 pound to more than 3 pounds, are meaty, very flavorful and have few seeds.
