It is very thick walled, and some say it has an apple like flavor hence the name Apple Crisp. It’s very crunchy and that’s where the crisp description comes from. The Apple Crisp chiles are great for making a mild but fruity salsa or sauce. Make sure you take the seeds out first as the seeds will give it a bitter taste.
