Mint Ginger :
Mentha x gracilis veriegata
perennial herb that comes from a cross between corn mint and spearmint. Variegated leaves are light green with bright yellow stripes that run through the leaves. Plant grows to a height of 1 to 2 ft. high and
produces small, pale purple flowers which bloom along the main stern, rather than at the end of the stalk like other mints. A
lso known as slender mint and Scotch mint .
Culinary Uses :
Mint is u
sed in teas, beverages, jellies, syrups, ice creams, confections, chutneys.
Medicinal Uses :
contains Vitamin C and Vitamin A and a cup of fresh mint tea has been known as an herbal remedy to many cultures for many generations. Mint was originally used as a medicinal herb to treat stomach ache and chest pains. During the middle ages, powdered mint leaves were used to whiten teeth.
Other Uses :
Scented leaves are a useful addition to pot pourris.
Mint oil is also used as an environmentally-friendly
for its ability to kill some common pests like wasps, hornets, ants and cockroaches.
